Bursaries
The Veterinary Vouchers Charitable Trust Fund targets students who, for
one reason or another, have to meet their own tuition fees for Veterinary
School. The bursary does not include accommodation etc. Whilst the provision
of fees for future Veterinary Surgeons is our priority the Trust also
helps those in genuine need to pay for unexpected emergency treatment
for their companion animal, this is governed by a separate committee.
It is envisaged that the format would be:
- Each Selection Committee Member will receive all application
forms ( minus identities) for their order of priority, awarded on merit
/ need, for a shortlist. On receipt of the lists of priority a shortlist
will be drawn up for interviews dependent on the amount of monies available
for disbursement
- One Meeting per year for interviews / selections, with
the possibility of an extra meeting during that year if a student finds
themselves in difficulty during the academic year. This could also take
the form of a telephone / postal meeting depending on the severity and
urgency of the case
- Membership of the Trust is an honorary position; therefore,
no expenses are paid to active members. Nor are they envisaged for members
of the Selection Committee. The Trust does not wish to incur administrative
costs consequently increasing the amount of assistance we are able to
provide
- Expenses by the cheapest possible form of transport,
and refreshments, dependent on the time incurred in travelling, will
be awarded to the candidates
- The number of bursaries will be dependent on the amount
available in any one year, and each bursary will be reviewed on an annual
basis, dependent on funding available and changes in circumstances.
If for any reason a student does not complete their training School
Administrators will be asked to advise the Trust immediately
It is hoped that each Veterinary School should benefit on the Bursary
Scheme.
